Marie Séguret is currently doing her post doc with Ana Aguilar-Islas, at the School of Fisheries and Ocean Science of the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is contributing to the Controlling Mechanisms for Nutrients, Plankton and Larval Fishes aspect of the Gulf of Alaska Project.  Her research interest focuses on the marine biogeochemical cycle of specific trace metals that are essential to the phytoplankton, to understand their impact on high latitude ecosystems. This work involves various sampling techniques and development of analytical technique to determine the low concentrations of these elements. Marie received her Ph.D. in Ocean Sciences from the University of Plymouth (UK) in 2008.
